ストップウォッチ / Stop Watch

2年生、3年生は続けて奥田先生が担任でした。
4年生では渡辺先生が担任でした。
5年生、6年生で初めて男の先生になりました。
黒木先生という人で何と母の小学校の同級生でした。
この人は新しいことを始めるのが好きな人で
吹奏楽団を作ったりしていろんな活動をしました。
それまでは背の順に並べて5人ずつ走らせて
そのグループで一番だった子を集めて
リレーの選手を決めていましたが
彼が始めてストップウォッチを使って
一人一人走らせてタイムの早い子から選手を決めました。
それまで私は何故かいつも狙われてて
レースをすると必ずこかされて
ひどい時は捻挫して病院に行かないといけない・・・
とかやっていましたので
選手に選ばれることはありませんでした。
ところが一人で走るなら転ばされる事もなく
男の子を抜いてクラスで２番の速さと証明できました。
１番はたか子さんという女の子でした。
それからが私のアスリートの生活が始まりました。
写真はリレーで一人抜いて１番になりチームに貢献したところです。

I was in Mrs. Okuda's class at 2nd and 3rd grades.
And Mrs. Watanabe became my 4th grade teacher.
Then Mr. Kuroki came to our school and became my 5th and 6th grade teacher.
He was my first male teacher, and he liked to do new things.
He started the Brass Band  with 5th and 6th graders.
When it came to the track relay team, until he came,
teachers always made us form groups of 5 by height.
Then all the groups would race each other 100 meters,
and the fastest runner from each group became the relay team member.
I still don't know why, but somebody always  tripped me, and I got injured.
But that year, he made us run individually.
He used the stop watch to find out who were fast runners.
I was the 2nd fastest runner including the boys in my class.
The first one was Takako (by .5 seconds).
That's the begining of my life as Athlete.
