３ベッドルームの家は狭いく感じるようになりました。
また主人が夜中にコンピューターで仕事をしないといけなくて
そのコンピューターは私たちのベッドのすぐそばにあったので
私は睡眠不足になりそうでした。
それで５ベッドルームのうちを買うことにしました。
今まで住んでいた近所から２マイル北に
素敵な２階建ての家を見つけて契約しました。
そして不動産屋さんを使わず
自分たちで家を売ることにしました。
近所はアローヘッドランチといって
かなりオシャレな住宅街で
誰もが住みたがる近所だったので
家を売るのに苦労するとは思いませんでした。
ところが３ベッドルームの家というのが問題でした。
誰もが最低でも４ベッドルームを求めていました。
結局不動産屋さんを使いましたが
初めの人は何もせずただ６ヶ月を無駄にして
建ち終わった家は私たちを待たず契約は破棄され
他の人が買ってしまいました。
それでアローヘッドの専門の不動産屋さんを雇い
再度契約をして同じ家を建て始めました。
そして２ヶ月で家は売れました。
結局８ヶ月かかって家を売りました。
１００を超える家族が我が家を見にやって来て
そのたびにピカピカに掃除して
彼らが見てる間は家にいないように出かけていました。
小さな子供を持つ家族にはそれは大変な事でした。
人が見に来て売れなかった度に私は泣きました。
その８ヶ月は辛いものでしたが
その８ヶ月は実は祝福に変わりました。
最初に建てていた家は
裏庭が大きな道に面していました。
さらにその道には消防署が出来て
夜中に出動する消防車や救急車、パトカーの音で
目が覚めるような問題がおきていたのです。
（アメリカでは事件が起きれば
必ずこの３台が現場に駆けつけるのです）
でも私たちはその家を買えなくて
もっと奥に入った道に同じプランの家を建てたので
夜中の騒音は聞こえないところでした。
うちが売れなくて待たされたおかげで
もっと良い場所に家を建てれた訳です。
大変な目に遭ってると思っていたことも
実は大きな祝福だったというわけです。
「モーニング・デュー」と名づけたのは
私たちのベッドルームが２階の東側にあり
朝日が入ってまぶしくて
夜が明けるともう寝れないくらいで大変でしたが
ポジティブに 考えて
ちょっとロマンチックに朝を想像してつけました。
実際カラカラのアリゾナでは
朝露なんで存在しないかもしれませんが・・・
１枚目の写真は
初めの契約で建てていた家。
２枚目はその家のほぼ完成した頃。
３枚目は実際に買った３軒目に家。
作りが初めの家の反対なのがわかりますか？
４枚目は３軒目の家で最初のハーロウィン。
５枚目は最初のクリスマスの頃に前庭で撮ったもの。
クリスマス・カードに使うために撮りましたが
別な写真を使いました。
Since my children grew bigger,
the 3 bedroom house became too small for us.
Also in those days, my husband sometimes had to work in the middle of the night.
The computer was next to our bed.
I couldn't sleep with the noise from the computer,
and I suffered from the lack of sleep.
So we decided to buy a new home with 5 bedrooms.
We found a nice house 2 miles north of where we lived.
We signed the papers to buy it.
We decided to try to sell our house by ourselves.
We lived in Arrowhead Ranch, which was a popular area.
So we thought it wouldn't be any problem to sell it.
But the 3 bedroom house was a problem.
Everybody wanted to have at least a 4 bedroom house.
So we hired an agent to sell our house.
He didn't do anything, but waste our time.
The house was built and the builder didn't want to wait for us to sell our home.
Somebody else bought the new house while we couldn't sell our house.
We fired that agent and hired the Arrowhead specialist agent.
And we signed the papers again to buy a house with the same floor plan.
She sold our house in 2 months.
It took 8 months all together to sell our home.
It was a painful time for us.
Over 100 families came to see our home.
Every time somebody came, I had to clean it spotlessly.
Also we shouldn't be home while they came to see it.
It was really hard for a family like us with small children.
Every time that I found out that we didn't sell it, I cried.
Those 8 months were painful months,
but it became a blessing for us.
The first house was built by the big street.
And they built the fire station on that street.
When the fire engine had to go, it made a big noise.
Since we couldn't buy that house,
we bought the house far away from the big street,
and didn't have any noise problem.
I named the house 'Morning Dew."
Our bedroom was upstairs and east side of the house.
When the Sun came up, it became so bright,
and we couldn't sleep anymore.
But I took this issue in positive way.
I imagined nice romantic morning with the leaves has dew.
Actually there is not such thing as dew in our DRY Arizona desert.
The first picture was the house we tried to buy first.
The second picture was when the first house was almost done.
The third picture was second house we bought.
The house was built reverse of the first one.
The fourth picture was our first Halloween at our 3rd house.
The fifth picture was taken to use for the Christmas cards that year.
But we used another picture for the cards that we took inside our house.
