１９８６年８月私たちは最初の家に引っ越しました。
３ベッドルームの小さな家でしたが
その家に住んでる間に賢と恵が生まれたので
とても思い出の深い家です。
頭金をギリギリで払って買った家だったので
１年くらい何もない買えなくて空っぽの家でした。
引っ越してすぐ教会の訪問教師が男の子を連れてやってきました。
入っていきなりだぁーと家中走って戻ってきたら
「この家何もないよ」でした。
結婚してたった８ヶ月で庭のある一軒家を買えたことは祝福でした。
でも種を明かすと頭金はたったの＄３０００でした。
毎月の支払いも＄８００くらいだったと記憶しています。
日本では考えられないような事ですが
そういうわけで家を買えたのです。
この家はスペックホームだったので
外装は選べませんでした。
内装は好きなように出来ましたが
頭金を払ったら何も残らなかったので
贅沢は出来ませんでした。
この家には暖炉がありました。
それで「赤毛のアン」が子供を育てた家を
「イングルサイド」と呼んでいたので
私もこの家をそう名づけました。
We moved out of the apartment where the police helicopter flew
above us almost every night,
and moved into the new home in August, 1986.
It was a small house with just 3 bedrooms.
But Ken and Kay were born while we lived in that house,
so it was special and memorable home for us.
Since we got just enough money to pay the down payment for the house,
we couldn't buy anything else, and house was empty for a year.
Right after we moved in, my visiting teacher
from the church came to visit me with her boy.
He run around my whole house, and came back,
and said, "mom, there is nothing in this house."
It was blessing that we could buy a new home 8 months after we got married.
To be honest, it was just $3000 for the down payment,
and I think it was about $800 for the monthly payment.
That's why we could buy a house.
If it was in Japan, no way that we could buy a house with that little money.
This house was spec, so we couldn't pick the elevation and exterior color of the wall.
But we could pick the carpet, floor, paint color and wallpaper inside.
Of course we didn't have money left after we paid the down payment,
so nothing much for us to pick.
This house had a fireplace.
Anne Blythe from the "Anne of Green Gables" called her home
where she raised her children "Ingleside",
so I named my home "Ingleside", too.
