アパート暮らし / The Life in The Apartment

結婚する前からデイブが住んでいたアパートに
日本からの荷物を送っていたので
新婚生活はそこから始まりました。
初めのうちはあまり気にならなかったのですが
夜になると頭上を犯罪人を追いかける
ヘリコプターが飛びその近所が
あまり治安がいいとは言えないことが分かり
家を買ってその近所を出て行くことを考えました。
結局そのアパートには８ヶ月しか住みませんでした。
１ベッドルームの小さなアパートでした。
出来たばかりのアパートで
デイブがその部屋の最初に住民でした。

部屋が２階にあったので
この階段をいつも昇り降りしていました。
買い物の袋を提げて車から部屋まで運ぶのは大変でした。


ちょっと見えにくいけどユニットＣが私たちの部屋の見取り図。
洗濯はプールの横のランドリールームまで
洗濯物が沢山入ったかごをもって行ってやっていました。
若かったから出来たけど今なら大変な生活でした。

Dave got a new apartment when he started work
for a company near Metro Center mall.
It was brand new apartment and
he was a first person to live in that room.
I sent all my belongings to his apartment from Japan.
So we started our newlywed life there.
At first I didn't realize how noisy the area was.
But when Dave told me that
the police helicopter was flying to find the criminals
almost every night, I got scared.
We decided to buy a new home far away from there.
So we lived that apartment just for 8 months.

It was 1 bedroom, clean and cute room.
But it was on second floor,
so it was hard to carry the grocery bags.
And I had to carry a heavy laundry basket
to the laundry room near the pool.
We could live like that because we were still young,
but I don't think I can do it now.

I know it's hard to see, but our room's floor plan was unit C.
