またね、お母さん / See you again , Mother!

 2023年11月2日

母は眠ったまま逝ってしまいました。

私とデイブは9月12日に出発して10月10日まで

4週間北九州に滞在して施設にいる両親と1日おきに会えました。

帰宅して3週間だったのでお葬式には帰りませんでした。

お葬式に出なかったので

こうやってこのブログを書きながら

母を送ることにしました。

My mother passed away on November 2nd, 2023. 

She died quietly while sleeping. 

Dave and I went to see my parents in Japan 

from September 12th to October 10th.

We stayed in Kitakyushu for 4 weeks and 

we could see my parents every other day.

She passed away 3 weeks after we came home,

so we didn't go back there for her funeral.

Since I didn't attend her funeral,

I decided to send her off by writing this blog. 

１９８８年１２月

恵が生まれるので両親は２か月の滞在で

アリゾナに来ました。

その間に結婚３３年の記念日を迎えました。

December, 1988

My parents came to help me when Kay was born, 

and stayed in Arizona for 2 months. 

During that time, they had their 33rd anniversary.

２００４年６月

毎年夏休みに賢と恵を連れて１～２か月

佐伯の両親の家に滞在していました。

父の誕生日が６月なので

母の誕生日も一緒にお祝いしていました。

June, 2004

We always stayed at my parents' home in Saiki, Oita 

for 1 or 2 months during Ken and Kay's Summer vacation.

Since my father's birthday is in June, 

we celebrated both parents' birthday in June

while we were there. 

２００５年６月

賢の高校卒業のために両親がアリゾナに来た時

６人でメキシコ西海岸のクルーズに行きました。

June, 2005

When Ken graduated from high school, 

my parents came to celebrate for him. 

So we took them on a Mexican cruise.

２００９年５月

恵の大学卒業のお祝いで

両親がアリゾナに来てくれたので

６人でアラスカのクルーズに出かけました。

May, 2009

When Kay graduated from college,

my parents came to celebrate for Kay.

So we took them to the Alaskan cruise.

２０１０年６月６日

賢がマディーと５月１５日に

恵がジェフと５月２９日に結婚したので

新婚２組を連れて帰省して

親戚だけ集めて母が披露宴をしてくれました。

June 8th, 2010

Ken got married to Maddie on May 15th, 

and Kay got married to Jeff on May 29th, 

so we took 4 honeymooners to Japan. 

My mother held the wedding reception for them. 

２０１０年６月８日

北九州での披露宴の後

佐伯の両親の家に滞在しました。

父の姉と一緒に。

June 8th, 2010

After the wedding reception in Kitakyushu,

we went to my parents' home in Saiki, Oita. 

The photo includes my father's sister.

２０１１年６月２０日

その年私は１人で帰省して

両親と松山に旅行に行きました。

I went back to Japan by myself, 

and I took my parents to Matsuyama.

２０１２年５月

恵が法科大学院を卒業した時に

両親がお祝いに来てくれたので

４人で西海岸のクルーズに出かけました。

May, 2012

Kay graduated from Law School, 

so my parents came to celebrate for her. 

We took them on a West Coast cruise.

２０１３年１０月２９日

デイブと２人だけで帰省した時

両親を宮崎観光に連れて行きました。

October 29th, 2013

Dave and I went to visit my parents and

took them to Miyazaki.

妹の次男の結婚式で

２０１４年１１月

私たちの孫のリンカーンとジェイを連れて

総勢８人で帰省しました。

１枚目は仲良しのはるかちゃんと。

２枚目はお風呂上りに。

November, 2014

We took our grandsons Lincoln and Jay to Japan.

The first picture was with Haruka, our close friend.

The second picture was after we took a bath,

so everybody was wearing PJ's.

２０１５年１０月

賢の次男ベック、恵の次男カルに会うため

両親はまたアリゾナに来ました。

それが最後のアリゾナ旅行でした。

私たち夫婦はカリブ海のクルーズに連れて行きました。

My parents came to Arizona to see Ken's second boy, Beck 

and Kay's second boy Cal who were born that summer.

That was their last trip to Arizona. 

We took them on a

 Carribean  cruise.

２０１７年１０月１３日

この年は恵の家族だけ一緒に帰省しました。

October 13th, 2017

We went to visit my parents with just Kay's family. 

２０１９年４月１０日

この時も恵の家族とだけ帰省しました。

母が脳梗塞で入院中でした。

April 10, 2019

We visited my family in Japan again with Kay's family.

My mother was recovering from a stroke 

so we visited her in the hospital.

２０１９年４月１３日

私たちの帰省中に会わせて

父の米寿のお祝いをしました。

April 13th, 2019

We celebrated my father's 88th birthday. 

Actually, it was not his birthday,

 but we had a party while we were there. 

２０２３年３月８日

コロナ過で４年帰省できず

やっと帰省できたのですが

この時も恵たち家族とだけ一緒に帰省しました。

March 8th, 2023

Covid made us wait for 4 years to visit my family in Japan.

We went to visit my parents with just Kay's family again.

２０２３年３月１１日

母の米寿のお祝いを１年遅れてしました。

We celebrated our mother's 88th birthday 1 year late. 

２０２３年９月１５日

デイブと私は母の具合が悪いと聞き

急いで帰省しました。

母は肺炎で入院してたのですが

私たちの到着後２日で退院して

このように父と一緒に施設で昼食をするのを

見れました。

September 15th, 2023

Dave and I went to visit my parents,

because my mother's condition was not good. 

She was in the hospital with pneumonia,

but she was released 2 days after we got there. 

So we could see her with my father at lunch.

これが最初で最後になりました。

母の葬儀で

母は歌うのが好きでした。

私の結婚披露宴で母が歌ってるビデオを

ＴＶで見ながら携帯でコピーしたので

かなり画像も音声も悪いのですが

ボリュームを上げて聞いてください。

My mother loved to sing.

She sang at my wedding reception. 

I made the copy from the TV while playing the tape. 

So the picture and sound are bad,

but if you turn the volume up, you can hear her voice.
