帰省 2023年秋 / Visiting Family in Japan 2023 Fall

 2023年8月下旬

妹からの電話で母の具合がかなり悪いと聞き

デイブと2人で帰省することに決めました。

ところが出発の1週間前に

母は肺炎を起こして救急車で病院に運ばれました。

その病院は母が入院した翌日から面会ができなくなり

（コロナとインフルエンザの流行のため）

私たちは1か月の滞在予定でしたが

その間母に会えるかどうかもわからないまま出発しました。

羽田空港内のホテルについてWiFiを入れたら

妹からの連絡が入っていて

母は2日後に退院が決まったとの知らせで

滞在中施設の許可をもらってるので

1日おきに両親に会えるとわかりました。

それは奇跡でした。

In the end of Augast, 2023, my sister called me and told me that our mother's condition got worse, 

so I decided to go visit my parents with Dave. 

But a week before our departure, my mother got pneumonia and went to the hospital by ambulance.

The hospital changed the policy and no visitors were allowed because of the Covid and Flu got spread again. 

I was not sure that we could see her while we were in Japan, but we decided to go anyway.

When we got to the hotel room and got WiFi, I found that my sister left a message to tell me that our mother was going to be discharged from the hospital in 2 days. 

It was a miracle. We could visit my parents every other day while we were there. 

１．９月１５日（金）

　　母の退院に付き添い施設に着いて両親の昼食に立ち会いました。

　　September 15th 

       My mother discharged from the hospital and had lunch with my father.

２．９月２４日（日）

　　弟と待ち合わせて一緒に両親の訪問をした時

　　弟が先祖のお墓に案内してくれました。

　　両親が佐伯から北九州に戻ったとき

　　お墓も一緒に引っ越しました。

　　When we visited my parents with my brother,

        he took us to our family grave. 

       When my parents moved back to Kitakyushu from Saiki,

       they moved the ashes of my grandparents to the new grave.

３．１０月１日（日）

　　私の家族は貧乏だったので家族でそろって写真館に行って

　　記念写真を撮ったことがなく

　　弟が生まれて６３年で最初の家族５人で一緒の写真でした。

　　My family was poor, so we never went to the photo studio to take a family picture. 

        This was the first family picture since my brother was born 63 years ago. 

４．１０月８日（日）

         弟は毎週日曜日だけお休みで

　　（建物の鉄筋を設計する設計士でとても忙しい）

　　私たちの滞在中毎週一緒に両親を訪問して

　　その後ランチを楽しみました。

　　My brother is an architect for steel frame buildings,

        he is busy and Sunday is the only day off for him. 

        So we went to visit our parents together every Sunday, 

       and enjoyed a lunch together. 

 

５．１０月９日（月）

　　私たち夫婦は翌１０日にアメリカに戻ったので

　　これがこの帰省で最後の訪問になりました。

　　妹夫婦と一緒に出かけて義弟と一緒に撮りました。

　　彼は私たち姉弟よりずっと両親の心配をしてくれて

　　心のこもったお世話をずっとしてくれています。

　　We came home on October 10th, 

        so it was the last visit with my parents for there this trip.

       We went to visit them with my sister and her husband.

      My brother in law is the most diligent family member to take care of my parents. 

      He lost his parents a long time ago, so he cares for my parents as his own parents.
